well okay

so i haven't really posted in a long time.

i don't really feel like posting now...only it's my birthday and i feel like maybe i should. but whatev.

it's been crazy around here. i can't even believe it's december and we're going to germany in 9 days. i really am NOT ready. i haven't even begun to think about what to pack. and that's like THE MOST important thing.

and i'm sure everyone knows by now, but hannah's ct scan was clear, thank God. i was worried there for a little while. apparently, she just has crazy veins. figures. (she originally got pneumonia while we were on a trip to see melanie in kentucky. it was forever ago, but the pneumonia would never go away!)

so what else...i'm 30... yeah 30...

hannah will be 10 in two months.

wow.

IDK

So I asked one of my teachers today: "Hey what's up with your car?"
Response: "I-D-K"

For those of you that aren't cool, this means, "I don't know".

The way I figure it....either:

A) I'm cool.
B) She thinks I'm at least 15 years younger.
C) She forgot who she was talking to and it slipped out.
or
D) both A and B

I'm gonna go with D cause...well...it's the most obvious.

heh.

October

Sorry guys...It's been almost a month since I last posted. I've been so busy this fall! I wish I had more time. Fall is most favorite time of year minus the colds, flu, strep...etc... you get the picture. I wanted to take Hannah to the apple orchard, but that didn't happen.

I have been in two very beautiful weddings over the last two weeks. This weekend we have two birthday's to attend on Saturday alone!

Maybe November will be more calm? Nah, probably not.

Hannah's Bedroom + some

Here is Hannah's new GREEN room. ha.

I have no idea how I'm going to decorate. At this point I'm just happy she's actually sleeping in there.

I just thought of something...I guess I should take a picture of the "old" yellow room so you can see what we did with it! Hannah now has a desk, book shelf, electric piano, and a huge chair one of my mom's friends got for her. It's pretty neat in there. She refers to it as her "office". Isn't it funny how as kids we want to grow up so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad! But when we're adults we'd give anything to have the freedom of a child.

On a side note, Landon is staying with us tonight. His mom wasn't feeling well so I offered to keep him. He has been having a really good time with Hannah. While he's not running around in circles with her, he's jumping all over me! Boys are sooo different...and fun!

After their bath tonight, as I was putting away his dirty clothes, this is what had me cracking up...

They're from the Gap! I've never seen such a stylish kid! It's a wonder I even wore underwear as a kid!

hehehehehehehe

washcloths

This is how Hannah sleeps when she's sick...With a wet washcloth over her mouth. She claims it makes her "not cough"

Kentucky

Despite being sick, we had a GREAT time in Kentucky! Hannah actually asked me today if we could go back! Next time, maybe we'll fly! I'm not a good car rider. Here are a few pics. Thanks, Melanie, for having us!

I stink

I have so much to post about, but I've been so busy!

First...yes my nose was broken, for. real. That's that. I'm not going to do anything to make it not crooked. whatev.

Second...Randy was nice enough to come over and re-do Hannah's original room. Yes, you heard me correc-eh-tally...She said she heard "sounds" in the other bedroom so we had to do the original one with green. I was really sad cause I REALLY liked the yellow. REALLY. Now I have nothing to match it with. Sigh.

Third...Hannah has pneumonia. I know....pneumonia. She's been sick for about 5 days now. It's so tiring...for all involved. We've had x-rays, breathing treatments, shots, antibiotics. I feel like we're test rats. I wonder how SHE feels!?

Fourth...I'm too tired to remember what it was, but whatev. I'll post pictures of the new old bedroom as soon as I can remember.

Nose pics

only cause I've been asked...and I really like posting pictures of my big ole nose. pfffft.

This is the night of the incident...

At first glance you really don't notice anything.

But when you get closer you can see the bruise starting to show up. I'm gonna go to the doctor this week. I've convinced mom to go with me cause I've heard it's not fun at all. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but there is actually a curve to my nose.

The Incident.

I wasn't going to blog about this, but I figured if I'm really trying to remember "events" in my life, then I really needed to!

I went to church yesterday and Michelle, Mireya, and I went to eat at Brixx. It was fabulous. On our way out I tripped over a curb and couldn't catch myself. Hannah was in front of me and as I was falling I sorta landed over/on top of her. She got a few scratches on her knee and hurt her hand, but other than that was okay. I, on the other hand, hit my nose on her head and instantly it started bleeding. Not like a drip, drip. It was more like a waterfall-and quite disgusting I might add. So I was sitting in the middle of the road, not able to move because my hands were trying to stop the bleeding. Hannah was freaking out because I was hurt. She wouldn't calm down at all. People were stopping and staring. Just a winner of a situation. I have no idea how long I was sitting there trying to get it to stop. A lady from Brixx was trying to help by bringing towels and cloths-and ice! She asked if we wanted to call EMS and I said no, that I wanted to see if it would stop bleeding. So after a few more minutes it's still not stopping so the lady calls EMS...(is that not ridiculous)...They told her to not let me move, which I didn't. And then....

about 30 seconds before they pull in, just as soon as it came on, my nose stops bleeding. They checked us out and said we were okay (right after getting my address and social security number for the bill) and I got up. We waited on my mom to get there and as we were sitting on the bench an old man trips....in the same spot. Apparently, it happens all the time.

Hannah's Bedroom

Well, I finally have pictures to share of Hannah's bedroom. Randy came over yesterday and finished up the very top of all the walls (cause climbing a latter with a bowl of paint just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.) Here is the almost final product.

Here is the Degas print my mom bought in France. We went to Hobby Lobby and had it matted and framed (service fee was only $1).

and

and of course I have these letters I have to put up...The jury is still out on how exactly I am going to put them on the wall...straight, diagonal...whatever. I put the washcloth beside them so you could see how big they were. Let me know how you think I should place them!

and for my next trick....?

I'm hoping to paint Hannah's old room a minty sorta green...sorta....

But look at what I have to work with now!

Hollywood

I think I owe it to everyone to write more than a sentence, like I've done for the past month!

I have thought for a long time that I would be famous. I mean, wouldn't I be a great famous person? I don't do drugs, I barely drink, I don't smoke. Wait...I don't think I'd be a good famous person afterall.

Well, okay...I want to go to California and Las Vegas. It's been my newest fascination (in my head) for the last few months. Hawaii is a close second, but it actually may be more realistic because of my mom's vacation packages.

So anyway...I went to see The Dark Knight on Friday. It was good. I would say everyone in the theater thought it was GREAT according to the strange amounts of clapping going on. Heath Ledger definitely did a great job. I mean, he was an amazing actor anyway. I have loved just about everything he was ever in. Plus it helps that he's gorgeous. Anyway... The rest of the movie I wasn't as pleased with. For me, it kinda drug on and on. I didn't follow the story very well and the other actors seemed only subpar to me. Just an opinion. Let me know what you guys think when you see it.

i'm so proud...

of jessica!

she finally got a blog!

Apparently

Hannah had a tough time on her first night at camp. I go up during the day with our day campers. One of her counselors told me that she was water works for 2 hours! geesh! I'm sure she'll have a better night tonight. She showed me her cabin and I took her picture with my cell phone. Her eyes were all blood shot!

Camp BEEShorn

I wish I had pictures to share...but I don't ... yet! I just got back from the ER with Kathleen...Amanda got stung by a bee at Camp Buckhorn and had a bad reaction! It was kinda fun to watch all of the young/old/poor people go back and forth. None of them seemed to have had a real emergency, but we all know how that is.

However, everyone else at camp seems to be having a great time minus the bees!

Gas prices

Today Hannah asked me if gas prices were so high because of global warming.

Monday, June 9, 2008

so...my kid....

is a tree hugger.

I've noticed the tree-hugger-ness coming out of her more and more each day. This is something that I have been mildly aware of, but have just been tucking away. Let's face it...I really like to leave the water running when I'm brushing my teeth. I mean really...how much water could I really be wasting!

I have to pretend to be "getting ready" to get water, or "getting ready" to spit out my toothpaste. If I don't, she will be doing a body slam to get to the running water to turn it off! Jeesh.

She also goes on and on about how the "men in the orange shirts" may be doing their part to pick up the trash, but WHY WOULD THEY LEAVE THE BAGS RIGHT THERE TO PRODUCE MORE LITTER. I'm not kidding. I've explained it to her in detail and I still get a, "but still, mom, they should take it with them"

I can't win.

Wordpress

For the past few weeks I've been starting up a blog for the CDC at wordpress.com. If any of you would like to see that blog site, just register and then send me an email and I will "allow" your ID so that you can view it. Just thought I'd share!

What do....

Greer, SC and Baghdad, Iraq have in common?

ONLY....

a 5 degree temperature difference!

Today at work I was on the bus for 4 hours straight.

I'm not kidding.

I didn't get off the bus. We had two field trips within an hour of each other with driving time taking about 40 minutes to get from one place to the other. So ridiculous. Oh well. I got off early today, but I decided to not get directly in my car and DRIVE home. I decided to go to the conference room and take a 3 hour nap! hahaha... so.... I didn't get home til 6.

I really needed it though!

Also...is Wentworth Miller gay? And is he black or white? Just wondering cause I can't figure it out.

Random Ponderings

Have you guys ever watched Monk? That is the funniest show ever. Does that make me old? You know, since only like old and old people watch it. Dude has some problems, ya know? Pretty sure that's why it's so funny.

What is all this mess with Lindsey Lohan being a big Lesbot? I mean, HUH?*insert Britney Spears "Huh" here. Don't know what I'm talking about? Watch THIS video!* Personally, I don't think you should be able to "switch teams" once you've established yourself as a big HOBAG. Just my opinion.

Also, Did you guys know that the same people own Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap, and Piperlime? I didn't know that!

Will Hills be the VP?? Discuss.

My Graduates

Tomorrow my beautiful, bright, intelligent, and wonderful 5 year olds graduate. I have known almost all of these kids since they started as infants! I'm going to miss them when they go off to "big school". I just can't believe it's been 5 years!

Just another super Saturday!

Hannah and I actually slept in this morning, thanks to a really late night with Relay for Life. I never EVER wake up before she does....until today! It was really nice! We did just about nothing for the morning and then I finally had to drag us both out of bed so we could actually go to Bloom for some groceries!

It was so pretty outside. I mean... I can't believe we are actually getting a Spring! It's so strange to be in South Carolina and it's not 100 degress in May. I just don't know what to do with that!

Anyway, we got back home and pulled some weeds and then cleaned up around the house. Hannah really helped a lot. She hates to clean, but she didn't complain much today. Around 4 a few of my friends came over and we watched 27 Dresses and P.S. I Love You. Great movies. We had a lot of fun!

I love Saturday's!

First Staff Meeting!

I had my first "official" staff meeting tonight. It lasted about an hour and I thought it was great! Just wanted to post my excitement!

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Why are we so crazy?

So... Michelle, Marjorie and myself had already decided that we weren't going to "plan" anything for this weekend. Which, turned out really GREAT! We got up, went to Brixx, went to Tips and Toes, went to Walmart (for work of course), and then went back to M&M's to watch movies and chill. About an hour into chillin we decided...

...to check in to the Holiday Inn Express so we could go swimming. I know...we're a little crazy but it was only $75 bucks and divide that by 3, well, it's not too bad! We have had so much fun! We are watching a movie now (+blogging + Michelle snoring on the couch) and plan on having a continental breakfast and another swim before church!

I love my random friends!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Oh well

The masquerade is over.

Randy stopped by when I didn't know it and took out my papers.

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

I hope Michelle isn't paying for this...

These are newspapers.

I have a lot of them on my front porch. The above picture is NOT of my particular newspapers. (I have a lot more) I am MUCH to lazy to actually get my camera out and take a picture of them. However, I have decided that I would like to continue to collect the newspapers to see how long it takes before the stupid newspaper people keep putting them on my doorstep! I actually think Michelle is still paying for a subscription, but I really don't know. She was supposed to have canceled it like a year ago. Hey Michelle...did you cancel? We will wait for her response... and then maybe I will take a picture of the real newspapers...

Let's take a poll... see side bar...

Sometimes you just gotta be down.

It's been a rough week. First Kesha passed away and now I have equally depressing news. My friend, Lynne, has been having trouble with her pregnancy for the last few weeks. She's been in the hospital now for about a week and a half. She's only 20 weeks pregnant and, unfortunately, she gave birth to her beautiful baby boy tonight...who didn't make it.

I can't imagine how they are going to handle this. It's so hard for me to even think about in "real" terms. I don't want to imagine the heartbreak they're going through right now. Things like this don't happen to people I know, ya know?

Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Kesha

A very special girl went to heaven on Monday...Kesha Fendley

Kesha struggled with cancer for about 3 years and finally passed away early Monday morning.

I'll miss her warm spirit.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 4 pm at Frank's in Greenville, SC

Sometimes it pays to be a DIVA!

As most of you know, I am pretty involved with International Ballet Academy in Greer, SC. I've typed programs, answered phones and now am serving as a group coordinator for Artisphere. I have become friends with the Executive Director, Lena over the last few months. I've learned all about the love of her life, Diva. (see below)

I've always grown up with dogs and cats (mostly dogs) and understand what it means to love a dog. However, I think as a teenager I kinda got a bad taste in my mouth just because they got on my nerves. (You know what it's like to be a teenager). Anyway, Lena and her husband, Jurgen, decided to make a trip to Germany for about a week and a half to visit relatives. She said she was going to take Diva to a kennel and was complaining about how much she was going to miss her and how Diva doesn't know "those people". Now, I've been around Diva only on the random occasions when Lena brings her to the studio, but it doesn't take long to tell the difference between a great dog and a not-so-great dog! Diva is a GREAT dog! Long story short--I offered to keep Diva while they were away and Lena flew at the opportunity!

Let me just tell you...Diva is the most wonderful dog I've ever met! I only have her a few more days, but I'm thinking about dognapping her! She hasn't messed up ANYTHING in my house, hasn't peed or pooped in my house, she hasn't done ANYTHING wrong! I just don't understand! She is ALSO well mannered, sweet and great with kids!

I'm so happy she's been with us!

This past weekend...

What was I up to this past weekend? Well...I'll let you read Stephanie's blog to find out!

It was SO much fun! I miss my buddy =-(

Full steam ahead!

That's right...I'm ready to go! I'm excited about this week. Last week was so stressful. I actually ended up getting a lot done in such a short week. This week we have new picture guys from Denny Shortt photography coming. They seem really cool and laid back...you know, my kind of people. That reminds me. I've done a lot of work in the hallways at work...well...Duane painted them white...I took the pictures and put them up. I will take pictures this week and post them. I know a few of you...ah hum....Mel...Haven't seen the CDC walls in like..uh...2 years. Anyway...I was reminded of that because when Mr. Shortt came by he told me I had nice "work". I was like...what the hell is he talking about? Oh...my PICTURES! Isn't it funny what some people consider "work"? I guess if I was a photographer I would say it's "work" too.

Saturday, March 22, 2008

It has been a BEAUTIFUL day today. I actually had the AC on in the car.

Hannah and I went to Target and Shoe Show today. We got her a new dress to wear tomorrow (Not last minute at all!) and shoes of course.
She's growing so fast it's hard to keep clothes on her!

I know it's going to be a super busy week at work, especially with public school being out. I'm going to try to remember the "calm" weekend I've had!

I'm so excited....

to be going to Germany for Christmas this year!

Fatties

Today, Me, Michelle, Marjorie, Hannah & Landon went to Red Robin for lunch. I discovered why Americans are so fat. Okay, so "discovered" isn't exactly the right word. I KNOW why we are all fat...but Red Robin really brought it home for me.

Every item on the menu is like 3 times the size it really needs to be. It's like a huge grease pit. It actually makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it. I, of course, ate too much...cause...well.... it's GOOD OKAY!

Anyway, as we were getting ready to walk out the door I looked around and EVERY SINGLE PERSON around me was a freakin FATTY! Eww, I don't wanna be like that anymore!

I will be going to Curves a lot this week.

A lot.

Separate Note... Look what Hannah just made me! (with moon sand)

Monday, March 10, 2008

What a day!

I'm so tired today!

I couldn't sleep last night until about 1:30. I'm going to blame it on the time change, and won't mention the fact that I decided to watch Return to Me at like 11:00!

By the way, that's a great movie! Any movie that can make me cry in the first 15 minutes has my vote. That, and I'm really just a big sappy girl at heart. Yuck.

Hannah had observation at ballet today. Girlfriend had a sour look on her face the entire hour and 1/2 class. She's a lot like her mother. We both get tired and lazy at the end of the day.

BUT if you'll notice she is the only one that looks almost exactly right! I know, I know... she WAS expecting the picture and all.

CDC Teacher Appreciation

Today was CDC Teacher Appreciation at church. It was sooo great! We had two parents speak during the service and our K3 and K4 students sing/speak/read scripture. They were super cute and well behaved (amazingly).

I love working with such amazingly talented teachers and I especially love working at a church. It has added so much to my life...and Hannah's life!

Which reminds me...She's getting baptized (again) on March 23. She's really excited and has been doing a great job reading her Bible every night. Her mother, however, is falling terribly behind in reading The Bible in 90 Days. Oh well....at least I'm trying!

There's a first time for everything.

Isn't that the truth?

Well, I've blogged before on Myspace. But, I think I've always been afraid of having an actual "blog" site.

Seems kinda silly now! Hopefully, I'll keep everyone updated on all the activities ...in the life of Brooke and Hannah!
